The U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania has implemented a new automated CJA eVoucher program which will eliminate the need to submit paper vouchers. All vouchers are now processed electronically, thus expediting approval and payment.
Regarding CJA payments during the temporary federal shutdown, per the Administrative Offices of the United States Courts:
FY 2019 Criminal Justice Act (CJA) panel attorney payments will be suspended beginning December 24, 2018. When appropriations become available, panel attorney payments will be made in full. During the temporary suspension, judges will continue to appoint CJA panel attorneys for eligible defendants and authorize expert and other services as appropriate.
**If you are logged into eVoucher and are inactive for more than 90 minutes any previous judges' approvals will be erased, so when finished with your voucher(s) please log out.**
**System maintenance will be performed on the Saturday after the third Tuesday of each month from 5:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M.**
March 28, 2018 - Notice to CJA Panel Attorneys - CJA hourly rates have increased from $132.00 to $140.00 for work performed on or after 3/23/18 in non-capital cases and from $185.00 to $188.00 for work performed on or after 3/23/18 in capital cases. At this time, the system will not correct any entries that have already been made on vouchers between 3/23/18 and 3/27/18. Please make these changes/check for accuracy prior to filing any CJA 20 voucher(s). To see the new case compensation maximums, please use the CJA Case Compensation and Mileage Maximums link located in the CJA Forms section.
