STANDING ORDER 93-6

O R D E R

       AND NOW, this 12 day of November, 1993, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED THAT the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania adopts the resolution of the Judicial Conference of the United States, authorizing United States Probation Officers to carry firearms.  The Chief Probation Officer shall be authorized to make a determination, on an individual basis, as to which officers shall be granted permission to carry firearms consistent with the conditions specified in the resolution.  No further approval of the court shall be required.  In addition, the Chief Probation Officer must make a finding that an assignment subjects a probation officer to serious risk of physical harm.

        IT IS FURTHER ORDERED THAT the Chief Probation Officer, with the approval of the Court, may adopt such further conditions and provisions which are not inconsistent with this order.
