How to Get Windows
to show all file extensions.

     

  1. From your desktop, double click the My Computer icon.

  2. When the My Computer window opens:
    Windows 95/98: Click the View menu, then click Folder Options. You'll open the Folder Options dialog shown above.
    Windows 2000/ME/XP: Click the Tools menu, then click Folder Options. You'll open the Folder Options dialog shown above.

  3. On the Folder Options dialog, click the View tab. That will give the list of options shown above.

  4. If necessary, scroll through the list of options until you find the one marked Show Hidden Files and Folders.

  5. Click on the radio button marked Show Hidden Files and Folders.

  6. Also locate and uncheck the checkbox labeled Hide file extensions for known file types.

  7. Click OK. From that point on, any file list or window you open, the file names should be complete, including the .pdf and other file extensions.
