How Do I Clear My Internet Cache?


It's a good idea, when using ECF to clear your Internet Cache regularly (once or more a day, if you frequently use the system). It prevents many common errors.

There are a number of ways to clear your cache:

Using  the Disk Cleanup tool in Windows

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Programs
  3. Click Accessories
  4. Click System Tools
  5. Select Disk Cleanup
  6. Select the letter of your hard drive (usually c:\) and click OK
  7. A window will appear indicating the files to be deleted. These files include temporary internet files, windows temp files, files in the recycle bin and downloaded program files.  Select the files you wish to delete
  8. Click OK

Clearing Internet Cache files and Internet History (Mac or PC)

If you use Internet Explorer

  1. Open Internet Explorer

  2. Click on Tools

  3. Click Internet Options

  4. Select Delete Files under Temporary Internet Files

  5. When prompted, check the box to delete all offline content and click OK

  6. To clear the history of websites you have recently visited, click on the Clear History option.

  7. Click OK


If you use Netscape

  1. Open Netscape

  2. Click Edit

  3. Click Preferences

  4. Select Navigator

  5. Select the Clear History Button

  6. Click Advanced

  7. Click Cache

  8. Click Clear Disk Cache

  9. Click OK
