Beginning the week of November 23, 2006 ALL USERS accessing Pay.gov must use a browser that supports 128 bit encryption.

Minimum browser requirements to support 128 bit encryption:


Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 (Recommended)
Download IE 6.0

Mozilla Firefox 1.5 or greater
Download Firefox


Mozilla 1.7 or greater
Download Mozilla
 

Netscape 7.x or greater
Download Netscape

Safari 1.2 (for MAC users)
Download Safari

Not Recommended:
IE 5.5 or lower

 

How to Check Your Browser Version

  1. Open your web browser of choice

  2. Click the Help menu

  3. Select About [Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Mozilla Firefox, or Netscape Navigator as appropriate]

  4. The About window will open.

  5. Check the version number against the list above [see sample below]

  6. Download and install the latest version, if your current version is not capable of 128-bit encryption.

This is the About Mozilla Firefox dialog. Yours will look different depending on which browser you use. All "About" dialogs will provide version information.
